The sisters of Gamma Rho are committed to helping in the fight against domestic violence by working with local and national agencies providing services to victims of domestic abuse. The Gamma Rho chapter works closely with the Lubbock Women’s Protective Services, an organization which provides emergency shelter for abused women and children, as well as long-term support through counseling, legal advocacy and employment help. Gamma Rho’s annual Hugs & Pampers Diaper Drive raises thousands of dollars in diapers, baby clothing, food and supplies, and monetary donations for WPS. Hugs & Pampers allows our members to really get involved in not only raising money for this incredible organization, but also in educating the public about domestic violence. Gamma Rho also works throughout the year to raise money for the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the fraternity, which provides educational grants to individual members, chapters and the national Fraternity. Gamma Rho’s annual Casino Night Silent Auction on Presentation Weekend is just one of several fundraising events designed to raise money for the Foundation. Our members work hard to collect donated items from area vendors to put on the auction block for guests to bid on. Gamma Rho is proud to be able to present the Foundation year after year with a check for several thousand dollars, knowing this money will help bestow these educational grants on some very deserving sisters across the nation.
